How to find trade partners in Pokémon TCG Pocket
To get the cards you want by trading, you first need someone willing to trade. Here is a comparison of the common ways, by effort, speed and who they suit.
Four common ways
1. Post on X (Twitter)
Post the cards you can offer and want, with the trading hashtags that other players use.
- Good: easy, free, lots of people
- Watch out: posts get buried quickly, and you must check every reply to see whether the cards match
2. Communities (Discord, Reddit, etc.)
Join a trading community and post there.
- Good: people who want to trade are already there
- Watch out: each community has its own rules, and you need to join first
3. Trading board websites
Sites where you post a request.
- Good: all requests are in one place
- Watch out: usually you post and wait for replies
4. Automatic matching (GottaSwap)
Register the cards you can offer and want, and players who can trade with you (same rarity, matching conditions) appear automatically. Their friend codes are shown right away (to registered players).
- Good: no need to post and wait; only matching players appear
- Watch out: if few players are registered you may not find a match yet. The more people register, the easier it gets
Comparison
| Method | Effort | Checking the match |
|---|---|---|
| Post on X | Post and wait for replies | You check each reply |
| Communities | Join and post | You check |
| Trading boards | Post and wait | You check |
| GottaSwap | Just register your cards | Only matching players are shown |
You don't have to pick just one. Combining them makes a match more likely.
Tips for finding a partner faster
- Register plenty of cards you can offer: more possible combinations
- Don't narrow your wants too much: list several cards of the same rarity
- Match the rarity: trades are same-rarity only (see the rules)
- Send the friend request quickly: after copying the code, add them in the game right away
Stay safe
- Only share your friend code – never your address, phone number or real name
- Don't ask for or accept money or goods outside the game in return for trades
- You are free to decline any trade you are not comfortable with
- If something goes wrong, check the game's built-in tools and official notices
