How Pokémon TCG Pocket trading works

Last updated: 2026-10-09 · Unofficial guide

Trading in Pokémon TCG Pocket lets you swap cards with friends you have added in the game. This page explains which cards can be traded, the conditions, and how to find partners.

Trading conditions

Same rarity only

A trade only works between cards of the same rarity. For example, a ◆2 card can only be swapped for another ◆2 card. You cannot trade a ☆2 card for a ◆1 card.

You must be friends in the game

Your partner has to be on your friend list. To add someone you need their friend code (16 digits).

◆3 and above need Shinedust

Trading cards of ◆3 rarity or higher requires Shinedust.

Finding a partner

You can't trade without a partner. See how to find trade partners for a comparison of the options.

GottaSwap (Getotore) lists players you can trade with – same rarity, and matching conditions – as soon as you register the cards you can offer and the cards you want.

How it works on GottaSwap

  1. In Cards (カード登録), choose the cards you can offer and the cards you want (guests need no sign-up).
  2. Players who match you appear automatically in Auto-match (オートマッチ).
  3. Copy the friend code shown next to their name (to see others' friend codes, you also need to register your own).
  4. Add them in Pokémon TCG Pocket and trade inside the game.

The actual trade happens inside the game. This site only helps with finding partners and showing friend codes. Your friend code is shown to other players who have registered theirs; to hide it, empty the friend code field on your profile and save.
